Spiritual Adoption

This will be SMA’s third year of taking part of spiritual adoption for unborn babies. Individuals are able to make a commitment to spiritually adopt and pray for a child, beginning at the end of September, for nine months until the time they would be born. The commitment asks for daily prayer for the baby. Prayer is very powerful and there are many babies who may not be born if we don’t pray for them. Sign up for Spiritual Adoption took place after Masses on September 28th and 29th, but individuals may also contact Dolores Puschautz at [email protected] if they were not able to sign up at this time. Stay tuned for information on the development of your spiritually adopted child.

Spiritually Adoption Update

Month 4 – “I had a dream today!”

Well, your little baby now weighs about six ounces. He has fingernails and eyelashes. He has his own unique fingerprint, which will remain the same until the day he dies. His taste buds are now working and his hearing already developed at week 14. There will be no more major developments. Rapid Eye Movement (REM) is now detectable, a sign of dreaming. Your spiritually adopted baby is already well-formed, both internally and externally. He just needs time to grow and get stronger. Quite a miracle, really.

Please consider taking this opportunity to pray for life and end the evil of abortion! Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you. –Jer 1:6

Baby Shower for Aid for Women

In the spring of 2018 & 2019, the ProLife Group hosted baby showers for mothers in need. Parishioners were encouraged to bring gifts for the mothers and their children to church or to the baby shower. One of the showers benefitted clients of Aid for Women. Representatives from Aid for Women joined us for the shower and helped us learn more about Aid for Women’s mission. To learn more, please visit

Letters to Inmates on Death Row

Before Christmas, our ProLife members write Christmas cards to men and women imprisoned on Death Row. This is a way of living out the Corporal Work of Mercy, “Visit the Imprisoned”. This charitable act helps members to share joy and hope with the men and women recipients, as well as reminded us to continue praying for those in prison. Letter writing was organized at the November ProLife Meeting.
